Funding program for DJs from Bremen and Bremerhaven
For years, significant potential – not only musical – has been leaving cities like Bremen and Bremerhaven, as musicians and people passionate about club culture seek their fortune in other major cities due to better conditions. A city that wants to retain and attract young people must invest in its (sub)cultural scene. To be able to offer an appealing and diverse program for cultural creators and enthusiasts in the long term, partnerships with neighboring and well-connected cities like Hannover can be an effective lever.
After a very extensive and successful project in 2024/2025, PLAYTIME is now returning in a compact summer version. Until autumn, there will be several resident DJs and plenty of workshops you can look forward to. This time, the venues include Karlsburgs Kinder (soon in Bremerhaven), IRGENDWO and MS Treue (both Bremen), as well as Kulturhafen Hannover, because this year there will even be a DJ exchange to the capital of Lower Saxony.
Become a resident DJ now!
By May, we will select three new resident DJs together with the clubs, who will have the opportunity to play three gigs each for a fair fee. Each resident DJ will play two gigs in a club in Bremen or Bremerhaven and an additional performance at Kulturhafen Hannover. During the ongoing funding period, each resident DJ will receive free access to the PLAYTIME workshops as well as individual consultation in the POP Office Bremen’s consultation pool.

Please read the project description carefully before applying. All DJs over 18 who live in the state of Bremen and have already gained performance experience can apply. The DJ residencies – just like most workshops – are not suitable for beginners.
Application phase: March 24, 2026 – April 12, 2026
DJ Residencies: May 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026
DJ-Workshops
From September 2024 to May 2025, workshops will regularly take place, primarily for advanced DJs. All DJs from Bremen and Bremerhaven who already master the basics of DJing and now want to specialize further can participate. We assume technical fundamentals, which is why the workshops are unsuitable for beginners.
